Dompe rules
Play money only. No prizes. 18+ only.
These are the complete rules of El Comi’s Dompe, the same rules that the game itself enforces. New to the game? Start with How to play. Dompe is played with play-money chips only. Chips and coins have no cash value, never cash out, and nothing in the game carries a prize.
The deck and the players
53 cards: a standard 52-card deck plus one Joker, which is fully wild and fills any gap in your six-card hand. A table seats two to seven players. You choose the number of players in the lobby when you play against the computer.
The deal and the dump
- Everyone gets five cards face down, except the first player (to the right of the dealer), who gets six.
- That player checks for an instant win. If there is none, they dump one card face up in the center to go down to five.
A turn
Play moves counter-clockwise, and the dealer rotates every hand. On your turn:
- Draw: take the exact card the last player dumped, or draw from the face-down deck. You now hold six cards.
- Check for the win.
- Dump: if you do not have a winning hand, dump one card face up and play passes.
Winning
You must use all six cards. Regular five-card hands such as a full house, and five of a kind, do not count. The moment you complete a valid hand you lay it down for an instant win and take the pot. Computer players lay down automatically.
If a player is all-in, they can only win the main pot. The hand still ends right there, and any open side pot they are not part of goes back to the players who put it in, each getting back exactly what they added. A side pot where everyone else folded goes to the last player in it straight away, and the hand goes on for the main pot.
The winning hands, highest to lowest
- El Comi: four of a kind plus a pair of a different rank. Example: 9♠ 9♥ 9♦ 9♣ K♠ K♥.
- 6-card straight flush: six in a row, all one suit. Example: 4♥ 5♥ 6♥ 7♥ 8♥ 9♥.
- 6-card flush: six of one suit, any order. Example: 2♣ 5♣ 7♣ 9♣ J♣ K♣.
- 6-card straight: six in a row, mixed suits. Example: A♥ 2♠ 3♦ 4♣ 5♥ 6♠.
- Three pair: three pairs, all different ranks. Example: 4♠ 4♥ J♣ J♥ A♠ A♦.
The ranking is for display: the first valid hand laid down wins. If the Joker can make more than one hand, it counts as the highest one. For example, a full house plus the Joker is El Comi.

House defaults
- Aces count high or low in straights (A-2-3-4-5-6 or 9-10-J-Q-K-A). There is no wraparound, so Q-K-A-2-3-4 is not a straight.
- El Comi needs the pair to be a different rank from the four of a kind.
- Three pair needs three different ranks.
- If the deck runs out, the dump pile (except its top card) is reshuffled into a new deck.
- Folded cards go out of play and are shuffled back in on a reshuffle.
The ante
Every hand, the dealer picks the ante, from 5 to 25 chips. The dealer has 10 seconds to pick; if time runs out, their last pick is used (or 5 chips). Everyone at the table puts in that amount. A player who cannot cover 5 chips sits the hand out.
Table types
- Regular: your one bet goes up to the ante. With a 15-chip ante, the most you can bet is 15.
- High Rollers: your one bet goes up to this hand’s ante times the number of players dealt in. With a 10-chip ante and four players dealt in, the maximum is 40. Folds do not shrink it, and calling never adds to it. You can always go all-in for less.

Your one bet
- You get one bet per hand, and only on your own turn: before you draw, together with your draw, or after you draw and before you dump.
- Everyone else must call or fold. There is no raising at either table type. If a player is short, calling puts them all-in for less, with a side pot.
- Calling someone else’s bet is not your bet and never uses yours up, so you can call several bets and still make your own one bet on your turn.
Chips and the El Comi bonus
Everyone starts with 500 play-money chips. Bankrolls carry over between hands and tables until you start a new game. If you lay down El Comi, you get a bonus of 100 chips on top of the pot. The game shows chip amounts with a dollar sign, but chips are play money and are not dollars.
